Our first week of Home School is completed! Thank you to those who are praying for us. My two days away at the beach came at just the right time. I was well rested and recharged ready to tackle the tasks that laid ahead of me!
I am learning to find things to keep the younger two busy/learning while I am schooling PJ. To the left, you see two pictures of Adele. One is her playing with a bucket of bubbles on our back "porch" (one activity I have introduced to her, whether in our kitchen sink or outside!) and the other is her reading the book Hush! A Thai Lullaby. Excellent book if you ever happen upon it.

We also planted some phlox thanks to my mom and dad's neighbor, Betsy. We planted the seeds a few weeks ago and they are slowly but surely growing! It's so fun to see the little stalks sprouting up through the soil.

Four weeks ago, we were traveling in South Carolina and as we were leaving our friend's house we spotted this HUGE, green caterpillar. Our friend encouraged us to take it along with us, so we did. That very night, the caterpillar built his cocoon...as seen in the picture. We thought it might be a luna moth caterpillar. We waited for four weeks and yesterday while Paul was checking on the cocoon he noticed something sitting in the top of the container we had it in. It was the polyphemus moth. She is absolutely beautiful when her wings are opened. She will only live about a week and then die...and within this week she will not eat anything. You can see her pictured below on PJ's hand.

I've been wondering how it was going. Looks like things are well and fun to boot! We have the book Hush. I bought it 10 yrs ago! It is a sweet book given our history. The moth is gorgeous...what a science lesson in itself! I still need to get going on some activities for the boys. I'm hoping for a little table to set them up on with some activities. They want to be at a table, but do not want to be quiet at ours. :)

Wow, it looks like you had a wonderful first week of school. I love the idea of bubbles. Maybe I will give that a try with Jonathan and Sarah. I am always on the look out for activites to keep them busy.

Wow, that's a huge moth! Love seeing your kids. Loved talking to you the other week. Praise God that school has started off well!

I can't believe how big Adele is getting! I guess it has been more than a year since I saw you all! I still don't know if it'll work out to go visit you all in Florida but hoping to visit Faye and Dave in Austin, so if it seems that THAT works out, my hope is to then hop over and visit you too. Probably not until early next year though. Anyhow, I'll be praying for you! Miss you!

Crystal,

I loved reading your blog and viewing the pictures when we returned from vacation. A special way to catch up and also an answer to prayer for your first week of schooling the children.

love, momH

PS - I was not happy to read that you had a snake in the house! But I guess that is Florida for you.
