Good answers to the two who responded to my question on "how do we know God loves us?" I think you are right, Kim. We have to believe in the Word of God and the promises therein. The verse I shared with my friend is Romans 8: 38-39
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, no any powers, neither height nor depth, no anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the LOVE of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
It all boils down to Jesus. He is the key. He has secured God's love for us by dying on the cross and paying the penalty for our sin and then rising again, therefore, defeating sin. Of course, there is believing this is so that Kim shared. I listened to a Piper sermon last night. It's his Palm Sunday sermon, "The Son of Man must be lifted up- Like the Serpent" (this past Sunday's sermon). It was taken from John 3 when Jesus meets with Nicodemus and Jesus tells Nicodemus that He must be like the serpent that was lifted up back in Numbers. It's a great sermon and if you have those in your life who are really struggling with believing (or if YOU are struggling with believing) listen and see if God will use it to encourage you.
