I've mentioned the cooler temps several times now in previous posts, but I thought I would provide some proof of the fact that it has been cold here in BKK. Now, for many of you 70 degree weather is the perfect weather for you...and perhaps I will feel that way again someday but for now, we are totally adjusted to life in Thailand...and 70 degree weather is COLD! So, the kids have been bundled but I will admit Calvin has been the least bundled...the kid is a steam engine! Top picture is of Adele with jeans and a sweater on reading books. The jeans were PJ's when he was young and needless to say they are a bit big, so I had to cuff the legs a bit. She wobbled around in them alright though and it kept her warm! I t
ried socks but they weren't skid proof and it was just too dangerous and it was before I realized I could use the booties Grammie got herl see bottom photo!
And the second picture is PJ doing schoolwork with his hooded sweatshirt. The last picture is Adele with jammies Nanny and Pappy sent her and a new pink bib Grammie and Grampy gave her for Christmas. I will also add she had on a onesie underneath it all! Adele loves kicking her feet around with the booties because they make noise. They don't stay on long anymore. =)
In the four years we've experienced Thai "winter" this is by far the loveliest and longest lasting. The only downside is remembering how cold things get in the good 'ol US of A and I find myself wondering how am I going to live thru it? My fingers have been freezing doing dishes here (no hot water from the tap in the kitchen sink) and the cold has even deterred me from showering...I know it sounds silly but it's true! It's just too cold!!! As Paul reminds me, we will be returning when it's summer...so hopefully we can ease into the fall and winter, but I know that I will be freezing in PA this summer!

Wow, that is amazing. I'm impressed that you have some warm things to put on the kids. Glad you are getting some refreshment with the weather. Sounds so lovely. Yes, next year you will freeze, but Paul is right in that it will be gradual adjustments. But, there will be heated water and heating in the house! :) We might get snow in GA tomorrow.
Kim,
most of the clothes (esp for the boys) are from when we brought PJ and I thought a few warmer things might come in handy...little did I know! We've worn the long sleeve t-shirts (2) every year at least once but this year the cold snap has lasted over a month, I think! We've had a few warmer days in there but it's been so cool, and it still is cooling down at night a lot.
Yes Crystal, you will freeze in Pa...Today there is a heat wave,20 degrees and thur. and fri. it was -11 and -12...below.Adele looks like Calvin in the pictures...P.J. looks like he enjoys school....I can not believe he is 5 and Calvin will be 3....Thanks again for the pics...mom and dad
Ive been saying all along that it is good you will be living in Orlando because it will be warmer there and you wont mind it as much as some would. It will keep you used to Thailand weather.
But yes, you will also "freeze" in PA come this June when it is still cool up north.
I went to the beach today with Nancy and the kids (church function on holiday from school) and while it was in mid60s and I never took off my sweatshirt, it was still fun.
It should be hot in FL in May though.
love, momH
Crystal,
I just read that it is supposed to go to 23 degrees!!! tomorrow night!
Now that is very cold in Florida!
but the beach today was great!
love, mom
I'm so happy that you're having cool weather! That is SO wonderful, and everybody looks cozy. You know, I've been really surprised by how NOT difficult it's been to get used to the cold- I have just loved it, in fact, as a refreshing contrast to the usual heat of Thailand. Being pregnant probably has helped, and of course, it doesn't get nearly as cold here as in PA. But it's cold right now, and we're enjoying it so much!
